There are just some couples who are contagious to be around and display a kindred love toward one another in every moment they share. This is certainly the case with Ashley Lazar and Phil Kovats. We had the extreme pleasure in designing, coordinating and doing the florals for this dynamic duo for their October vineyard wedding held in Calistoga.
When I first met Ashley in 2008, I was working as management in a small children’s boutique where she was our district visual manager. I remember spending hours with Ashley merchandising and styling the displays and learning her tricks of the trade , many of which I still use today. Because we were both perfectionists to a T, it was a given that we put our heads together when planning her wedding. Since both Ashley and Phil lead very busy lives in Los Angeles where Ashley is a general manager of a high end boutique and Phil, a sound director they wanted to plan a wedding getaway for their guests in beautiful wine country.
Hans Fahden vineyards became a beautiful and secluded backdrop for an intimate wedding of 60 close friends and family. Ashley walked down the aisle in the most exquisite Amasale gown escorted by her Mother and brother and carried a bouquet wrapped in handwoven Ikat fabric with a very special locket given to her by her maid of honor that held a cherished childhood photo of she and her father, who was smiling down from heaven. Guests found themselves completely immersed in the beauty of the surroundings while enjoying a glass of wine at a tasting bar, a sweet and savory spread of locally produced cheeses and homemade tapenades from Elaine Bell Catering and a fun welcome table that transformed into a “watercolor station”.
Ashley and Phil dined with their guests amongst the glow of candlelight in a wine cave and because they share a love for music, they danced the night away in a room glowing in pink!
