Wedding Editorial at Salt Flats

It was an honor to produce this wedding editorial at Salt Flats for Marissa Morrison of Mon Soleil Art! It was her first wedding photography masterclass, the Inspire Retreat, where thirty photographers gathered. Everyone came from all over the United States. The retreat lasted four days and was filled with growth, inspiration, friendship, and elevation. Marissa had been coaching them all virtually for a couple of years, and it was so rewarding seeing all of them come together in one space! Although this retreat was at the start of the Corona Virus in 2020 and the world was getting ready to shut down, everyone still had hope and dreams.

When Marissa opened her heart to all of us about her story of becoming a photographer, it touched many, and we all started crying. Her compassion for people is amazing, and her honesty is so refreshing. Her students were truly inspired, and their energy was contagious.

I created this editorial for Marissa and her students to highlight the beauty of race and our individuality! We were able to honor women of all races. The rich textures, flowing fabrics, diversity in our models, and abundant white space brought a sense of wild freedom that lights up the soul!

The Looks From This Editorial at Bonneville Salt Flats

I pulled eight different looks as we worked with six models. These gowns are from several bridal designers to present various options for brides to imagine for themselves. From vintage Oscar De La Renta, Claire Pettibone, Pronovias, and sexy Berta Bridal, all of these gowns were fascinating! One of the photoshoots was more modern, while the other was all about fashion and styled after Jane Austen’s Emma.

A lot of my inspiration for this editorial came from the natural surroundings. The flatlays featured The Idea Emporiums’ incredible paper goods and invitations. Even the tones and material for the invitation suite matched perfectly with the Salt Flats. Would there be a better guest favor than a mineral bath soak?! There were also pink salt place cards that looked fabulous! Here are a few of my favorites from this wedding editorial at Salt Flats!
