Here at Type A Society, my biggest goal is to help wedding professionals achieve their desired portfolio. When planning a styled shoot, the most important thing is choosing a wedding venue that represents the vibe of what type of weddings you want to take on. I am always working at and finding the best luxury wedding venues worldwide, so let’s dive into how you can choose the right wedding venue for your editorial!
Before we start, if you’re new here, let me introduce myself quickly! I’m Carrie, the owner and wedding stylist, and it’s so much fun working with wedding professionals looking to up-level their business. You can learn more about me and my business by clicking here.
How to Choose the Right Venue for Your Styled Shoot:
It is quite different if you have never been in the luxury wedding market. But if you desire your wedding business to get to that level, here’s a little secret of how we can get you there! If you’re not currently working with your ideal client or at wedding venues that are your style, then you probably don’t have a portfolio to show your work in the luxury market. Attending a styled shoot is the key to getting new, luxurious work in your portfolio. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t just attend a wedding photography event that’s oversaturated with other photographers. I love planning and creating styled shoots devoted to you and your business.
First, you’ll need to decide who your new ideal client is. Once you understand what type of weddings you want to work on, we can decide on a wedding venue for your editorial. If your style is more clean and modern, choosing a dark and bohemian venue doesn’t make sense. I’ve compiled a great list of wedding venues worldwide that I have gathered over the years, and I always help my clients choose the right one.
West Coast Wedding Venues:
While there are so many fantastic wedding venues on the West Coast, I have three that are my absolute favorites. From the desert in Utah to the mountains of California, they all have different looks, but they each bring a level of luxury.
Philip Dixon House:
A quiet oasis in Venice Beach is all the rave for photography shoots. Philip Dixon, a photographer, designed this home that has incredible decor and will have you feeling inspired. Every inch of this property is photo-worthy, with an open floor plan, zen water features, and cactus gardens. If you love working with couples who will have a bohemian-inspired wedding, then this might be the perfect spot for you to have a styled shoot.
My excitement over the publication of this editorial in Green Wedding Shoes came from my role as the wedding stylist. Be sure to check it out here!

Amangiri Wedding:
The serene beauty of Amangiri in Canyon Point, Utah, is the ideal location to host a luxurious wedding. Incredible landscapes from canyons and plains will be the background that only enhances this place. If you are inspired by nature, and modern structures, I’ve got a feeling you’ll fall in love with this location. This Utah wedding venue doesn’t hold many wedding guests, so couples wanting a smaller and more intimate wedding are instantly attracted here. Elopements are all the new trend, and if you specialize in them, let’s get your own styled shoot scheduled here at Amangiri!
The Amangiri wedding editorial was published in Geraldine Magazine.
